How To: Speed Up YouTube Videos using SpeedBit Video Accelerator
Have you ever watched a YouTube video and been annoyed at the constant pauses whilst the clip buffers and catches up? Of course you have - especially if you prefer to watch your hilarious cat videos in HD. No matter how fast your internet connection is, there is no stopping that buffering pause midway through the clip - and it usually happens right at the funniest part, too.
Actually there is a way to prevent it, and it doesn't involve upgrading to a fibre optic connection (although that would probably also help). SpeedBit Video Accelerator is a free tool that reduces buffer time significantly when watching streaming video from platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo and Daily Motion. We're not exactly sure how this clever app works, but we noticed improved performance when trying it out on a range of popular video streaming platforms - and that's all that matters!
Access the related download link for this article and fetch the installer file for SpeedBit Video Accelerator. Once this has finished downloading, follow the usual procedure to install the application on your computer.
After installation, click the Next button to select your version of the SpeedBit Video Accelerator application. Select Free Version if you just want to test out the tool for the time being, or Premium if you want to go ahead and sign up for the full version with enhanced speed and functionality. Note: if you select the free version, you can deselect the option underneath that modifies your default browser search engine and homepage. Click Next to continue, then Finish to complete the setup process.
After installation, SpeedBit Video Accelerator runs automatically in the system tray area. There are several ways to use the application - the first is the most obvious and is the same way you would normally search for and watch a video streamed on the web. In a new browser tab, access any video sharing site supported by SpeedBit Video Accelerator (see here for a full list) and search for a video.
Click a video in the search results to start playing it. The video begins as usual, but this time a SpeedBit Video Accelerator notification appears in the tray area to inform you that the video is being accelerated. SpeedBit Video Accelerator automatically detects when you are watching streaming video from one of the platforms it supports, and starts doing its thing - with no intevention required on your part. You should notice a drastic reduction in the number of buffer pauses during the course of the video playback.
Another useful feature of SpeedBit Video Accelerator is the built in search facility. Double click the tray icon to open the SpeedBit Video Accelerator panel and note the Video Search tab. Enter the name of a video here and click the Search button.
A list of possible matches is returned inside the SpeedBit Video Accelerator panel, drawn from all the various video sharing sites the tool supports. Click any video result to begin playing it in the browser.
