Whether you have a love for music or movies Windows Media Player is an easy-to-use, well established media player that caters for all.

Windows Media Player (WMP) is the standard audio and video player that comes with all Windows PCs.  This makes it the most widely used media player in the world, leading the field in front of WinAmp and iTunes.  But, just because you are the biggest, doesn’t necessarily make you the best.

WMP has a very simple, easy to use layout.  There is no confusion when it comes to playing your music or movies.  The tabbed options at the top of the window are fairly self explanatory and help provide an easy environment for you to get around your media collection.

Set into six categories, the tabs cover every eventuality that you can think of if you are using this as a basic media player.  You can view what is playing, browse through you library, upload your CDs to the PC, create new CDs, this is useful if you use the playlist creator to make up a customised collection of tracks.

The final two tabs offer the user a bit more than just a media player.  The Synch option allows you to synchronise your media library with a portable MP3 player.  Although the market leader in MP3 players, Apple’s iPod is not compatible, so this is a big downfall with WMP.  The Media Guide tab is a nice touch.  It lets you access the web and gives you information on new media that is being released.  All of this along with the ability to access online radio stations really keeps you up-to-date on all the new media out there.

Windows Media Player is fairly basic and doesn’t have the sleek look of iTunes, or the massive content of WinAmp, but if you are looking for an easy to use all round media player, then WMP is a great choice.

A lot of new media functions

Reviewer: MReithmayer - View all of My Reviews

In the newest version the Windows Media Player really offers special new
functions packed in the glossy-style Windows Vista Design.

Managing your music files has really become very easy:
The powerful media library shows up your music like it would lie just
in front of you on your desk. Every music album you name your own
can be decorated with a specific cover image and the strong
search function helps you to keep overview of all your songs.
The included burn function lets you create your own CDs right
out of your media library.
Windows Media Player is even able to automatically search and
update file information for every music file on your PC.
Windows Media Player 11 offers a variety of new and useful functions
and is really nicer than the former versions ;)

The new Windows Media Player...

is really really better than Windows Media Player 10. I do like the new design and the new library structure, but iTunes is still better:)
