FrostWire to many is a 'rip-off' of LimeWire, the popular P2P client.  But to those of a bit more knowledgeable standings know that it is not.

The FrostWire project was first started in 2005 by members of the Lime Wire community after it was announced that LimeWire's distributor had considered placing a blocking code which was being developed due to mounting legal pressure on file sharing.  When activated, the code could block its users from sharing licensed files.  This led to the release of FrostWire in October 2005.

The reason many believe it to be a 'Rip-off' of LimeWire is due to its obviously similar interface, basically a carbon copy, with only the base colour changed.  It uses the same Java script, which means that it is capable of performing on multiple platforms.  Unlike LimeWire, that has free and paid for versions, LimeWire & LimeWire Pro.  FrostWire is completely free and even offers some of the extras that you are expected to pay for in LimeWire Pro.

Frostwire, similar to LimeWire Pro, connects to 4 ultrapeers. The Non-pro version of LimeWire only connects to 3. This means that both Limewire Pro and Frostwire have faster download speeds and broader search results.

As with LimeWire, FrostWire is incredibly intuitive and easy to use and usually can find what you’re looking for, even accessing the LimeWire database of files to let you get want you are looking for.

Very Deserving

You are so wrong on this one. FrostWire was set up by the LimeWire community once it became apparent that LimeWire where going to try and put a blocking code into the software.

So, FrostWire is a true example of the power of P2P.

If this isn't made by the same company as Limewire then I seriously think a lawsuit is in order. This is the exact same thing as limewire. The featres are the same, the name is practially the same. Sorry but I can't give five stars to a copy.

Great alternative to Limewire and I really like it more than Limewire. I don't know why exactly but it has that little something more than Limewire..
