BS.Player is one of the most widely used media players to date, with support for the vast majority of commonly used media formats.
In the free version of BS.Player, there are several ways to playback media. You can play back videos, audio, Radio, TV and Podcast. In addition, you have the ability to play DVDs also if you decide to upgrade to the pro version.
What we liked about this was the huge list of online media content that is free, this is in the form of online radio stations we found there to be over 500 currently active, spanning a wide diversity of genre.
The playback quality for BS.Player is high and to the standard you would expect from any media player, we did like how the core codex needed to play back the majority of media formats is installed when you first install BS.Player.
Overall, we could not find anything bad about the program the way you can manage and organize your media is easy and the ability to add and save playlist means you only need to set your playlist up once and then you are ready the next time you wish to use BS.Player.

Does not play 'out of the box'

Reviewer: teardrop4ty - View all of My Reviews

This is the second time I have tried BSPlayer in the past year. I normally use another player, VLC, but decided to try BSPlayer again as I had forgotten about it needing an internet connection in order for it to download codec(s). I use dial-up, and was not connected to the internet when I installed it. Upon isntall, it wanted to connect, which it could not. After installation, I went into BSPlayer's options and unticked "check for newer version upon start" (not exactly those words). I wasn't impressed by the skin, and changing to the other three or so choices was not that impressive. The skin seemed difficult to discern the buttons and icons, but eventually I figured them out. Default skin theme seemed faded in appearance.
I then put a DVD movie in the optical drive and opened up BSPlayer and chose to play disc, but it said it needed to get a codec via an internet connection. Which codec? It would have been nice if it stated which codec. I don't like programs that need to phone home to work. It seems broken in that aspect. VLC plays upon install for me, which is what I want in a player. So, I decided not to connect to the internet and let BSPlayer try to download a codec or codecs. Instead, I installed K-Lite Codec pack and re-installed BSPlayer expecting it to now work. It still said it needed a codec. So, I gave up. I then ran the uninstaller and then too it popped up a message about a codec missing and opened up my browser (I was not connected to the internet.) Why would a program need to connect to the internet during uninstall? I don't like it, so it is back to the trusted VLC player.

More stable than VLC

Reviewer: lazylupo (München) - View all of My Reviews

I simply rate BS Player with 5 stars because I had playback problems with a lot of 1080p-.mkv-files on the VLC media player which is said to be the best. BS Player played this video files without any problems. Impressive!

BSplayer vs VLC player

Reviewer: wwwa - View all of My Reviews

My opinios is that BSplayer can no longer be described as "freeware" -BSplayer runs only with adware installed!
So you need to buy the licese to get rid of malware threat .
VLC player is an alterantive option if you search for a FREE good player without adware or spyware.

BS.Player truly has been one of the best video players in the world.

Video: divx, avi, mpeg 1, mpeg 2, xvid, 3ivx, ogm, matroska, asf, wmv, DV, m1v, m2v, mov, mp4, mpv, QT, rm, SWF, vob etc. Audio: wav, mpa, mp1, mp2, mp3, ogg, aac, ac3, aif, ram, wma etc.

Great media player supporting a wide range of formats.Since its beginnings, the BS.Player truly has been one of the best video players in the world. With the latest version the makers wanted to go even further. They wanted to make the best tool for managing and reproduction of all the multimedia content: video, music, TV and radio programmes (classical and web-based), teletext, podcasts and webcasts, and live-streaming application. BSplayer is a general purpose media player that specializes in video and particularly DivX playback. One of the main strengths of this program is its ability to play a wide range of formats while not draining the resources of your computer. With the users in mind, both computer enthusiasts and those whom browsing through the player and seeking hidden functions is not exactly something up their street, it has a modern look which sets new standards and enables easy and intuitive use of the player. Features of BSplayer: Fully skinnable - Any shape, transparent skins Displays subtitles with custom subtitles position, color, font, transparency Playlist support Multilingual support (more than twenty languages) Resizable movie window Resolution changing Frame capture AVI files with more than 2 audio streams supported (multilanguage) Support for OGM files, including more then 2 audio/video tracks, supports embeded subtitles/chapters External audio file supported S/PDIF output supported for AC3 files (with Intervideo audio decoder) Bookmarks Simple equalizer (DirectX 8 required) Playback rate (1/2x, 1x, 2x) and custom Supported formats AVI, MPEG 1, MPEG 2, XVID, DivX, 3IVX, OGG, OGM, MATROSKA, ASF, WMV, WAV, MP2, MP3, JPEG, GIF, BMP Notes Comes with track Siddharta "Play With Me"
